Bad for You

By J. Daniels

Synopsis: Shayla Perkins isn’t the kind of girl who makes the same mistake twice, especially when it comes to Sean “Stitch” Molina. So when he gives her the world’s biggest rejection, that’s it—she’s done. Until the sexy, silent, unavailable Sean makes Shay a very personal offer. Of course, it still doesn’t mean he’s interested in her. Or does it?

Sean has done things in life. Bad things. And he’s paid the price. All he wants now is to make up for his past by doing good in the present. And no one deserves more good than Shay. Beautiful on the inside and out, Shay is the kind of woman who should be cared for and protected—especially from a man like Sean. He’s tried to keep his feelings for her in check, but a single, reckless impulse pulls them closer than ever before.

Soon the two are sharing their biggest dreams and satisfying their deepest desires. But what will happen if the only way to truly give one another want they want most . . . is to let each other go?

I have read and loved all of J. Daniels books but this is by far my absolute favorite. There was just something about Sean and Shayla’s story that was so heartbreaking and so heartwarming all at the same time. From the Prologue, Mrs. Daniels had me hooked and my heart was breaking for Sean.

Sean had such a horrendous upbringing that you would automatically figure he would grow up to be so hard on the outside as well as the inside. But this man had the most beautiful heart and soul and you could just feel the emotion coming off the pages.

Shayla has had a thing for Sean for over a year. She thought they were going somewhere but then he completely brushed her off and just never talked to her again. Needless to say, she was heartbroken. She wouldn’t talk to him unless necessary but that didn’t stop her from seeing him. Then one day he sees her breaking down in her car and against his better judgment, he goes over to her to see what was going on.

There’s always been something about Sean that Shayla couldn’t resist. From the moment he started working with her, she was drawn to him. Unfortunately, he turns her down and things get awkward. What she doesn’t know is that Sean shares those same feelings but he’s been trying to keep it hidden. All it takes is for Sean to see Shayla struggling and his resolve is snapped. Now the two must figure out how to become friends while keeping their feelings at bay. But as we all know, that never works.

I didn’t expect Bad for You to be as gut-wrenching as it was. Sean’s story and his self-awareness had my heart hurting. All I wanted to do was wrap him up in my arms and hug him for the rest of my life. It’s clear that Shayla is exactly what he needs. She’s such a bright light and has just a beautiful personality. She’s perfect to help Sean mend. Plus, just like Sean, I adore her fiery side. She had me cracking up.

This was the start of a beautiful friendship that turned into the most amazing love story Mrs. Daniels has written to date. I can honestly say there isn’t one thing about this book that I would change…except I really didn’t want it to end. Even though the story was wrapped up in a pretty red bow, I wish it would have gone on longer.

All the character’s in Bad for You are like one big family. It’s so warm and so welcoming that I can’t help but beg for each and every one of their stories. Their family is what we all strive for. Full of love, support and good times.

Bravo Mrs. Daniels on your best book yet. This book will stick with me for a long time and I can say that this is one of my top 5 books of the year. I can’t wait for the audio version so I can fall in love with these characters all over again.

If you are looking for a heartbreakingly beautiful story that will rip your heart apart but mend it back together, this-this is the book for you. I’m pretty sure everyone is going to fall in love with Sean and Shayla.
